The track features a one-mile dirt oval, as well as harness racing and live thoroughbred horse racing throughout the summer months. Today, the facility is owned by Churchill Downs Inc., which purchased the track in 2010. The facility was developed by MTR Gaming Group Inc, a publicly traded company specializing in racetrack and casino operations. Presque Isle Downs first opened its doors in February of 2007 and has been an integral part of the Erie community ever since.
